Puppy Love

Little has a BAD case of it. He loves, loves, loves our dog Hank. Big has always tolerated Hank. Played with him occasionally. Petting him now and then but generally co-existing with him without a ton of interaction. Not Little, he seeks Hank out. He lays on him like a giant shedding pillow. He follows him around, and pats his back whenever he stands still. He likes to help feed Hank and takes it upon himself to take out his dog food piece by piece and give it to Hank. And for Hank's part, I think he loves Little just as much. He tolerates every abuse he throws his way, lets him climb and lounge and pull on him. He has never growled, snipped or harmed either of our children in even the slightest way but he is even more docile with Little.

I worry sometimes about the lack of attention Hank gets now that we have kids. He was once our kid. We took him to the dog park daily, cuddled with him, and bought him toys. Now we do all that for the boys and poor Hank's ranking in the family has fallen drastically. But I guess God knew what he was doing when he made Little the dog lover that he is. He is Hank's buddy, giving him all the love and attention that we no longer can.
